| Analysis
of Learning and Development Needs |
| To
assess the learning and development needs within
an organisation we attend to the business context:
the current requirements, the vision of the future,
the medium and long term strategies - in order to
analyse: |
 |
the demands of each
category of role in terms of skills and abilities |
 |
the skills and abilities of each individual |
|
| Some or all of these methods may
be used: |
| 1. |
The repertory grid technique in discussions
with managers to discover the abilities and skills
of excellent performers |
| 2. |
The mapping technique to draw the professional
internal and external customer relationships,
both formal and informal, that each person has.
We ascertain the demands these connections make
of the person-in-role as it is these demands
which construct the job description |
| 3. |
A skills audit by getting staff to self assess
their current skills and abilities, and a wish
list of desired skills and abilities, through
1:1 discussion, focus groups or a paper based
questionnaire |
| 4. |
Reviewing other HR processes to assess that
they are coherent with the learning and development
function |
